Stephen K. Kwan

Chair and Professor
Department of Management Information Systems

In addition to his work with the SVOSRP, Dr. Kwan is also working on research projects looking into the critical factors that contribute to the success of location commerce and the application of new technology in hospital administration systems. He received a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Oregon, and a Ph.D. in Management from UCLA. His research has been published in European Management Journal, Information Systems, Data Base, Queueing Systems: Theory and Applications, and ACM Transactions on Office Information Systems.

Joel West

Associate Professor, Technology Management
Department of Organization and Management

Dr. West’s research has focused on product compatibility standards and open source software in IT industry adoption and competition. His research has been published in Information Systems Research, Management International Review, Research Policy, Telecommunications Policy, and The Information Society. He received an S.B. in Interdisciplinary Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Management from the University of California, Irvine. Prior to beginning doctoral studies, he worked as an engineer, manager, and columnist in the computer industry.
