I was born in North Carolina but at the age of 12, we moved to Alaska where my father worked as a
university professor. I later returned to NC where I met my husband, Ted.
With our marriage in the mid 1990's I began the
roller-coaster life of an Air Force Officer's Wife that included several moves and numerous deployments. After living briefly in Panama city, FL
we were stationed at Howard AFB, Panama. While I enjoyed shopping and traveling in Central America,
I spent most of my time working towards a degree in Computer Science at Florida State University.
In 1999 we accepted an assignment to Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City.
Since our return to the states I completed an MBA and Ph.D.at the University of Oklahoma and expanded our family to include our two wonderful children, William (born summer 2000) and Zoey (born summer 2005). In July of 2007 we moved to California so that I could begin new career at San Jose State University. Photos of William and Zoey may be found in my Gallery.

Career
Currently I am an assistant professor in the Department of MIS at San Jose State University. My current research interests include: knowledge management and innovation, computer-mediated communication and the role it plays in the development and ongoing interaction in groups, and the ability of technology to enhance employee creativity. I am particularly interested in investigating creativity processes and exploring organizational initiatives that can be designed to facilitate such processes. I am also interested in healthcare informatics and effects of self-efficacy in technology training and use. More information on my current research activities can be found in my vita.
This will be my second year at SJSU. This fall I am teaching BUS 110A - Fundamentals of MIS which includes discussions of basic MIS concepts and an introduction to application development with Visual Basic and BUS 188. While I was at the University of Oklahoma I had the opportunity to teach several sections of the Introduction to MIS (MIS 2113) lab which provides business students training in the use HTML, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access; skills the students need to successfully complete their courses and compete in the job market. At OU I also taught Business Data Analysis, a course that employs Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and advanced MS Excel to make business decisions, and Systems Analysis and Design.
