The study of marketing is the study of the most dynamic aspect of business. All stages of a product's or service's development are studied, from the first idea to the end of the product's useful life. Both national and international aspects of developing and selling products and services are present in the marketing program. Of particular importance to the marketing field are the understanding of the need that the product or service satisfies, the product or service itself, the promotion of the product or service, its distribution, price and positioning. The study of marketing can lead to careers in sales and sales management, marketing research, product management, distribution management, retail management, marketing communications and international marketing in the following areas:

  1. Business-to-Business goods and services
  2. Consumer goods and services
  3. Public sector services

Grade Requirements

A minimum grade of "C-" is required for all Marketing courses taken Spring 1993 or later.  Any of these courses in which a "D+" or below is earned must be repeated for a "C-" or better.

A 2.0 (C average) is required in the major in order to earn the BS degree.  The cumulative GPA for all business courses must be 2.0 or better to order to graduate.

Business Pool

These courses require a "C-" or better and must be completed and cleared by BSAC in BC 008 (924-3435) prior to taking upper-division Business

Note: Students must earn a "C" or better in Math 70 in order for it to fulfill GE requirements.
