Double Majors
University policy states that although students may not work toward or receive two degrees simultaneously (2 separate diplomas), they may complete the requirements for a second baccalaureate and have this fact noted on their transcripts and their diplomas for both majors, if they have both majors processed at the time of application for graduation. Each degree or formal concentration, not including courses in preparation for or in support of the major, must consist of at least 24 units that are completely separate and distinct from the other degree or formal concentration.
For business majors, the formal concentrations will require additional courses over and beyond the core courses that are presently in place. For example, if a student decides to declare a double major in Finance and Human Resources Management, the student must complete 24 units in each concentration separate and distinct from each other despite the fact that each concentration requires only 18 units for the single concentration. In this case, four additional courses, two Finance electives and two Human Resources Management electives must be completed to meet university policy.
