In order to be eligible for appointment at the advanced rank, the successful candidate must have broad teaching experience, and demonstrate scholarly/professional achievement.
One year visiting appointments will also be considered.
SALARY: Commensurate with education, experience and demonstrated expertise.
STARTING DATE: August 2008
ELIGIBILITY: Employment is contingent upon proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
QUALIFICATIONS: Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience is required.
Specific discipline assignment will include undergraduate and graduate curriculum in taxation. Individual must also demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain professional practice networks which will facilitate attraction, development, and placement of students in professional accounting firms.
All applicants should have the following qualifications:
· Possess a Ph.D. and be academically qualified under AACSB standards (if ABD, completion of the doctorate will be required for continued employment and will be a prerequisite for promotion and tenure).
· Demonstrate a commitment to
continuous improvement in the classroom. Must
demonstrate success in teaching auditing systems in an
accelerated format at the Graduate level.
· Demonstrate an ability to work in a collegial atmosphere as part of a team.
· Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Experience in audit with a large CPA firm.
ACADEMIC ASSIGNMENT: Undergraduate and graduate teaching assignments are expected. While the normal teaching load is 12 semester hours, it is common for individual faculty to teach fewer hours when engaged in approved research projects or certain other assigned University activities. Professional achievements and research leading to publications and scholarly papers are required. Knowledge of computer applications is also highly desirable.
RESPONSIBLITIES: Address the needs of a student population of great diversity--in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation--through course materials, teaching strategies, and student advisement.
THE DEPARTMENT: The Department has four undergraduate concentrations: Accounting, Accounting Information Systems (AIS), Corporate Financial Management (CFM), and Finance. All tracks include a practicum that is a project course addressing project management and other advanced topics.
CONSULTING AND APPLIED RESEARCH: Located within the heart of the “Silicon Valley” and within an hour’s drive of San Francisco, a major world trade and financial center, opportunities are available for consulting and applied, field-based research.
