The Department of Accounting and Finance is well connected to the Silicon
Valley in many capacities. Students benefit from the Department's links to
individuals and organizations in Silicon Valley who provide us with advice
to help keep our programs timely and pertinent. We also work with industry
associations to promote professional continuing education to accountants,
attorneys, and financial advisors. Our connections are explained below. Tax Advisory BoardA large number of tax professionals advise us in our Graduate Tax Program, M.S. Taxation and Annual High Technology Tax Institute. The Tax Advisory Board Members page lists names and links to their companies. The High Technology Tax InstituteThe Institute is an annual 2-day seminar focused exclusively on tax and accounting issues and developments relevant to high technology businesses. The Institute, begun in 1984, is co-sponsored by the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of Tax Executives Institute (TEI) and the SJSU College of Business. Tax experts from account and law firms, as well as high technology companies, present timely information on research development issues, stock compensation, mergers and acquisitions, electronic commerce, IRS procedural developments, and more. This annual event is held November of each year.
