![]() Accounting and Finance Department Undergraduate StudiesThe portfolio of programs offered by the Department of Accounting & Finance are recognized by our professional communities for their quality, relevance, and innovation. QualityAll of the department's programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the premier accrediting agency for bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs in business administration and accounting. The department's faculty represents an optimal blend of academic researchers and clinicians. A number of it's faculty have published in refereed journals and others have made significant professional practice contributions as leaders in accounting, finance, information systems, and taxation. RelevanceThe department is continuously engaged in monitoring the changing needs of the marketplace. Through its professional advisory boards representing friends and alumni, the department is able to respond quickly and effectively to change with leading-edge programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In the last two years, two new undergraduate programs were designed and offered in Accounting Information Systems and Corporate Financial Management. InnovationBoth of the newest undergraduate programs reflect an optimal blend of Accounting and Information Systems and Accounting and Finance. Both programs also include a practicum which provides students opportunities to suggest solutions to real-world practice problems in industry. At the graduate level, the department offers a unique Master of Science in Accountancy program which is designed for students who have completed a bachelor's degree in liberal arts or sciences. The cohort program is full-time and is completed in twelve months. All courses are offered in an accelerated format and in-tandem. In addition, the program offers a field practice experience. Furthermore, the department offers a Master of Science in Taxation program which is designed to serve the practice needs of taxation departments of public accounting firms and corporations. All courses are taught in an accelerated format and scheduled around the seasonal needs of practice. Alumni SuccessMany of our alumni have passed the CPA examination and entered the professional ranks of public accounting firms in the Silicon Valley area. A number have been admitted to partnership and have held leadership roles as managing partners. Still others have achieved leadership roles in corporations as directors, controllers, chief financial officers and chief executive officers. Our successful graduates are male, female, outgoing, conservative, creative, and analytical. And they come from every ethnic and cultural background.
