Dominie Garcia
Scholarly Interest Areas:
I have two primary areas of research. The first is focused on issues related
to large- scale organizational change and transformation. In this work I take
an interdisciplinary approach, bridging the gaps between management science,
cognitive engineering and science, and multiple subfields within both broad
areas. Included in this research is consideration of measurement of change process,
comprehensive models that include multi-level factors, and the connections back
to organizational design and culture.
The second area of scholarly research is focused on biculturalism. A group of
scholars has been developing theory about antecedents of biculturalism, as well
as types of biculturals and their cross-cultural skill sets and abilities. This
is an emerging area of research with connections to multiple fields in management
and beyond.
Recently, I have begun to link the focus on change with the research on biculturalism, examining the unique skill sets that these individuals may be able to bring to large-scale transformation efforts.
