Purpose
To promote education about standardization among universities. Provides an opportunity to make students aware of the issues surrounding standardization and sustainability from corporate strategy, industry, regional, and international perspectives. Creates a forum for discussion among students, academics and practitioners to build a community of learners.
The Second International Case Study Competition
The Second International Case Study Competition will be held via the Internet in May 2012. Applications from University Contestant Teams from around the world are now accepted until April 13th, 2012. Each team must have a faculty advisor and could be made up of 3 to 5 undergraduate and/or graduate students from any discipline enrolled at the university. For 2012, a limited number of Teams from each geographical region (Americas, Europe/Africa, Asia) will be accepted into the competition. [see 2011 Competition]
The theme of the 2012 Competition will be on Energy Sustainability and Standardization.
Competition Rules and Procedures
The Contestant Teams will be provided with the written Case, analysis questions, and evaluation criteria two weeks before the competition. Teams could send in questions and receive answers and clarifications posted online. The Teams will be asked to analyze the Case Study based on the theme and a set of questions. The Organizer will arrange for the Teams to present their analysis and recommendations to a panel of international Judges via web-based teleconference. The presentations will be evaluated by the Judges based on the provided criteria.

Prizes
First Place: US$2000, Second Place: US$1000, Third Place: US$1000. All prizes will be sent to the Universities of the winning teams for disbursement.

It is expected that an activity on Sustainability and Standards involving students from different countries will be held annually. The activity could be a case study competition, research essay, "mock" standard development, simulation exercise, etc. For those who are interested in participating in various roles, sponsoring, or volunteering, please contact the Organizer and check on this website periodically for future developments.
