Dr. William Y. Jiang's Biographical InformationDr. William Y. Jiang is currently Chair and Professor of the Department of Organization and Management at College of Business, San Jose State University. He received his Ph.D. and M.Phil. degrees in Management from Columbia University, his M.A. degree in Comparative Literature and his M.S. degree in Library and Information Science from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, his M.A. degree in English Lexicography from Xiamen University, China, and his B.A. degree in English from Hunan Normal University, China. His major teaching and research areas are in human resource management, comparative cultural studies, and strategic management. He has published over twenty articles in professional/academic journals and has presented his research at numerous professional conferences. Dr. Jiang is a member of The Academy of Management, The Industrial Relations Research Association, The American Economic Association, The International Association of Management, Western Academy of Management and the Association of Chinese Professors in Social Sciences. He has served on numerous committees of these various academic organizations, including Chair of the Human Resource Group of The International Association of Management. In addition to being a productive academic, Dr. Jiang is also an active consultant. He has twelve years of consulting experience with high tech industry in the Silicon Valley and with Fortune 500 companies. He has consulted with numerous start-up firms in the Silicon Valley on venture capital funding issue, international management issues and compensation issues. He has also consulted with many established high technology firms and several US Fortune 500 corporations on a variety of financial and business issues. Dr. Jiang has consulted with over a dozen corporations in the People's Republic of China, Japan, and Taiwan. He has close ties with various Chinese corporations and research institutions and has been invited many times to give lectures to various universities, government agencies, and business enterprises in China.
