San Jose State University's Policies

As a student of the University, you are expected to understand the university policies regarding your rights, and handling of inappropriate behaviors. Please go to the following link for more information.

http://www2.sjsu.edu/senate/S04-12.pdf

In addition, I have posted some policies I feel appropriate for our classes. They are as follows:

  • Students are expected to attend every class and lab session.  Students are expected to be on time, and all quizzes will be given at the beginning of class, and no make-up will be allowed.

  • Make-up examination or lab test will not be accepted. If under uncontrollable circumstances which the student is allowed to take the test late, the student will only be able to be to attain a maximum grade of 70 percent of the total possible points allowed. No exceptions.

  • Late assignment and group report will not be accepted. A grade of zero will be assigned for a missed group report.

  • Hand written assignment and case will not be accepted. The report, presentation and any pertinent information related to the team project must be submitted both in paper and disk (zip drive if necessary) format.

  • Students are expected to have read the chapters and lecture notes prior to the class session

  • Students are expected to visit this website often to see if there are new class materials.  Lecture PowerPoint presentations will be posted on that website for downloading as well. Due to the unique nature of this course, which a significant amount of course materials are provided by the professor, all instructor materials will be posted on the site for you to download as the course progresses.

  • All assignments to be turned in with disks should be:

·        Scanned and cleaned of any computers virus. Failure to do so will result in a failing grade for the course.

·        Cleared of any files other than those relevant to the assignment.

·        Clearly labeled with name, course and section, assignment number, relevant file names and turn-in date.

·        (if needed) put inside an envelope and attached to outputs to be turned on.

  • Students are responsible for adhering to policies of the course as well as all University and College rules for adding/dropping classes, academic behavior.

  • Students are encouraged to talk, consult, work and learn together on their assignments and projects. But each student is expected to turn in his/her own independent work.

  • Student found cheating, coping from other student(s), or not completing their own assignments will be given an "F" Grade.

Additionally, please note the following new grading policies I have applied to all classes:

The instructor reserves the rights to award a certain grade to the course based upon the average, median, and other information available to the instructor and deemed fair and legitimate to the instructor. The instructor will show, at various times during the course, the students’ attendance, test, and project grades. The students have the responsibility to validate their grades before the final, and discuss with the instructor prior to the final examination. The instructor will not entertain any grade change requests after the final. The instructor will not answer any question regarding why a student is assigned a certain grade, and all grades will be final.
