Welcome to Mark's home page

Mr. McKenna is the Associate Director of the Global Studies program at San Jose State University, and has been lecturing in the College of Business since Fall 2007.  He has extensive international and cross-cultural management experience, having spent more than twenty-five years designing and implementing international development projects.  He has worked closely with business leaders from national and multinational firms, serving for a number of years as vice president and president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka.  In addition to projects to promote the role of business as an agent for positive social change, Mr. McKenna has implemented initiatives to further governance and legal reforms; strengthen civil society organizations; promote greater democratic participation; empower women and minority communities; and increase access to justice.  He has completed assignments in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Fiji, Mongolia, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

Mr. McKenna has a BA from the University of California, Berkeley and an MA in the social sciences from San Francisco State University.  He is pursuing a doctorate in conflict analysis and resolution at Nova Southeastern University.  In engaging with students at the university, Mr. McKenna seeks to impart a greater appreciation for the role of the private sector in addressing the social, political and economic challenges of globalization, and of the cultural, social and strategic needs and opportunities that confront managers in today's fast-changing global environment.
