The preceding templates are based on:
"Information Literacy Competency
Standards for Higher Education." American Library Association. 2004. http://www.ala.org/acrl/ilcomstan.html
(Accessed 04 Mar, 2005)
(These
standards have also been endorsed by the American Association for Higher
Education and the Council of Independent Colleges). The template below shows
the ACRL Standards and associated performance
indicators and outcomes. It also suggests four types of classes in a discipline
that are particularly well suited for the integration of information literacy
competence.
Depending on the discipline and the faculty member, the ACRL standards and outcomes can be used in various ways. Some may choose to link different standards to different courses; others may choose to cover all or most of the standards in each course, at an increasing level of sophistication (the “introduce—reinforce—culminate” model).
