What MIS Honors Alumni
say about their experience:
|
The honors projects I completed this year have been the most relevant
and the best learning experiences in my undergraduate education at San
Jose State University. It allowed me to learn about myself, work with
people who all had different strengths and weaknesses and learn some new
and exciting things that I wouldn’t have otherwise gotten a chance to
explore during this academic year.

As a student in the Honors Program, I can attest to the value it
provides and how significant it has been for me. Last year, I was
searching for an internship or part-time job and got few responses. This
past semester I continued my search and have received multiple offers at
various locations. One thing they all had in common is they were all
interested in hearing about my Honors project.

I’m glad we were able to complete the RWOS and deliver a working product
that is replicable, and serves a useful purpose to the organization. I
really enjoyed being in the class and getting the individual attention
that is needed to help a student excel. I’m proud that I have been given
the opportunity to participate in a unique experience and a once in a
life time opportunity such as the MIS Honors Practicum course. |

The Honors projects as a whole have been
an incredible learning experience... Whether it is in the management of
the scope of the triple constraint or in the communication with the
sponsor, this experience has provided me with very practical knowledge
of the tools of project management.

By only enrolling students with high levels of competence and the
ability to complete exceptional work, the honors class taught me, when
working on a project of any kind, the importance of having smart,
responsible, and fun teammates cannot be overstated. |

This Honors class was the most useful and memorable
of all of the classes I took in college. The educational and
professional value that I gained from taking this class has really
helped me at this early point in my career and I can only imagine that
the experience will continue to help me in the future. I would recommend
it to any student who has the desire to be the best.

This
program brought me to a whole new level on the management skills via the
hands-on project that I didn't learn from my MBA program. The closeness
to a real world job from this project helped me to gain valuable
experiences toward my career. |

I believe that my honors program provided a solid understanding of how
to apply my previous coursework in a real world setting. It allowed me
to gain important experience that I wouldn’t have found in any other
course. Although the honors program was demanding at times and filled
with challenges, the program provided me the skills required to
springboard into greater opportunities. This year I plan to attend
graduate school and acquire my project management certification, which I
believe would have been more difficult without the experiences I
acquired from the College of Business MIS honors program. |

The honors program prepared me for the daily experiences of the
corporate workplace, from responsibly working with individuals of
diverse backgrounds to time management to understanding the value of a
project to the organization and seeing it created from concept to the
final product. Thank you for preparing me for my job

When I walk into an interview, I find that the person on the other side
of the desk is very impressed with my honors project experience.
It is perhaps the most liked part of my resume.
They really like that I was experienced with project management
concepts, project implementation, and business intelligence. |

I would like to say thank you for allowing me to participate in the Gary
J. Sbona Honors Program. Work on our project this year has been a truly
unique and rewarding college experience and one that I am grateful for.
This class has helped me apply skills I have learned throughout the MIS
program and has provided a significant foundation for my professional
development. Thank you! |

The project itself was a lot of fun, and I gained valuable and usable
experience working with many different kinds of people in what were
sometimes very challenging relationships. |
