Exams

Exams will cover information in the text readings, case studies, laboratory exercises, and class discussions. Exams can contain true/false, multiple choice, word fill-in, matching, and essay elements. Each exam will cover four chapters in the textbook and may include questions related to classroom discussion, cases, and lab activities.

Quizzes

I will give ten quizzes during the semester. The multiple choice questions will test your understanding of definitions and the terminology used in the textbook. The quizzes should help you prepare for the exams.

Case Assignments – Group Presentation

You will work in a team with four other students to analyze and present one section of the Broadway Cafe Case in front of the class. Use of PowerPoint is required. Every team member must talk during the presentation. Each member in a group will receive the same grade for the PowerPoint, but will be graded as individuals for their part of the presentation. Case presentations should be at least 10 minutes long but no more than 20 minutes. Teams and Cases will be assigned during the first class meeting. Presentation dates are listed in the course schedule below.

Film Assignment

We will be watching the film “Triumph of the Nerds” in class. You will write a short review of the film, answering the questions provided to you here: Film Review  Due date: 9/26

Access Database

We will spend portions of four class periods in the computer lab, learning how to use Access. Each lab session will be complimented by a homework assignment, due by the following class. An Access project will be completed in a fifth lab.

The Computer Lab:

To log on: Domain is LAB. Username is your student ID # - 9 digits starting with a zero. Password for first time users is the last two letters of your last name followed by the last 4 digits of your student ID. After your first log change the password.

Password trouble: Your instructor does not have access to student passwords. Go to the help desk in room 302.

The Screen: Warning: The display screen is hard to see from the two back rows. To get a better view, sit in one of the first four rows. Students should never be seated in the back row, if space is available up front.

Printing:  Printing in the lab costs 10 cents per page. You start with a $5.00 credit. If you run out of funds on your account you can not print. Money can be added to your account at the help desk in room BBC 302. You have to set up a printer before you can print. See the instructions posted on the front and back walls of the lab.
