Dr. Arvinder Loomba is a Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management in the Department of Organization and Management in the College of Business at San Jose State University in San Jose, CA. Dr. Loomba received his Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California at Los Angeles, CA, in 1993. He also holds an M.B.A. (1988) with dual majors in Operations Research and Marketing from California State University in Hayward, CA, and a B.E. (1984) in Mechanical Engineering with emphases in Statistical Quality Control and Industrial Management from Bangalore University in India. Dr. Loomba's research interests include issues pertaining to supply chain management, product distribution channels for entreprenuerial startups as well as for established firms, and after-service support issues related to forward and reverse logistics. Also, he has extensive teaching experience in the area of Operations Management, Service Operations Management, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, and Managing New Product Development. Dr. Loomba is an Area Editor for the International Journal of Operations & Quantitative Management and serves on Editorial Boards of IEEE Transaction on Engineering Management and of International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management. He work have been published in numerous peer-reviewed academic journals as well as edited books. Dr. Loomba provides corporate training and has consulted on projects for numerous business organizations in production and service industries and government agencies including Samsung Electronics Company Ltd. (Korea), Seagate Technologies, various plants and divisions of Deere & Co., and Iowa Department of Employment Services. In addition, he currently serves as an advisor-in-residence at The Enterprise Network & Ames Technology Commercialization Center (TEN/ATCC) in San Jose, CA offering his advice to a number of entreprenuerial startup technical companies in the area of operational and supply chain infrastructure/processes.
