Sally Veregge, Ph.D.

Dr. Sally Veregge came to the Department of Biological Sciences at San Jose State University in 1984. She received her doctorate in Neuroscience from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, a Masterís Degree in Biology from Fresno State University, a BS in Nursing from Fresno State University, and a BS in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Davis. Dr. Veregge's research at San Jose State has focused on the cellular neurophysiology of epilepsy. She has been a research advisor and mentor to many students, including many students through the Minority Biomedical Research Support Program. She has also been recognized by San Jose State for excellence and innovation in teaching. Dr. Veregge has been awarded grants to support both research and curriculum development. Most recently she collaborated with faculty colleagues to develop two new programs within the Biological Sciences Department, A Clinical Laboratory Scientist Training Program and a Professional Master's Degree in Biotechnology. She assumed the role of Chair of the Department of Biological Sciences in 1998.
