Meghna Virick is an assistant professor at San Jose State University. She joined the faculty in Fall 2005 from after completing her doctorate in business administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, specializing in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior. She earned her Masters in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from XLRI, India, and an MBA from Texas Christian University. Dr. Virick has worked in Human Resources in multiple organizations for six years. Most recently she worked for American Airlines as a change consultant in Human Resources. Since January, 2003, Dr. Virick has been serving as Research Director of the North Texas Technology Council (NTTC), a non-profit organization that promotes North Texas as a leading and varied technology region. She has conducted two surveys of former high-tech employees in the North Texas area to determine the impact of layoffs in the region. Her research on job loss has been the topic of numerous stories in print and broadcast media throughout the country. Dr. Virick's work on diversity, strategic human resource management, reward systems, and turnover has been published in such journals as the Journal of Applied Psychology, the Human Resource Management Review, Research in Personnel and Human Resource Management, Journal of Managerial Psychology, Women in Management Review, and the Journal of Business Strategies. Her current research focuses work and family conflict, underemployment and the effects of job loss.
