  Silicon Valley Innovation Challenge 2011

The Silicon Valley Innovation Challenge (SVIC) is an annual forum to promote creativity and entrepreneurship at San Jose State University by generating and showcasing Innovative Business Ideas.

Students from all departments and majors at San Jose State University can present their ideas and receive feedback from judges, professors, peers, and industry professionals. They will have the opportunity to interact with students from other disciplines and form teams. SJSU Alumni are also eligible to participate in the SVIC.

An Innovative Business Idea is any practical idea that can offer more benefits to its users than existing concepts or products, and change the world for the better. It can be a new product, process, service, or simply a new application of existing technology.

The idea must be exhibited by means of a poster board display, which can be supported by one or more of the following.
- A Prototype
- A Computer display
- Other evidence to show the merits of the idea.

The two main competitive areas in the event are:
- Innovative Idea Challenge
-
Elevator Pitch Contest
- Special category awards may be granted, depending on sponsorship
