This course provides an overview of issues facing companies in I.T. and (to a lesser degree) other technology based industries.

Note: Previous students have rated this course quite demanding, both in terms of the amount of material covered and the technical content. The accelerated 8-week format is particularly demanding.

The course materials are posted to a password-protected website on WebCT.

Excerpt from Porter’s Competitive Strategy, as distributed at Rose Orchard MBA office
Louis Gerstner, Who Says Elephants Can’t Dance (all chapters). The paperback edition is fine if it’s available, but this best-seller is widely available used.

Assignment for Week 2 (Sept. 11)

Please buy Everett Rogers, Diffusion of Innovations, 4th edition, Free Press, 1995. Paperback edition is OK, otherwise get the hardback edition. The assignments are not based on the 5th edition, which was scheduled to be published in August 2003.

The specific assignment will be posted to WebCT and distributed via e-mail.
