Second part of a two-semester honors program sequence. Student teams will work on a project sponsored by a company or other organization, under the supervision of the sponsor and the instructor. Teams will present their final report to the sponsor.
The prerequisite for Bus 169B is admission to the Organization & Management honors program. Students are normally expected to have taken Bus 169A (Honors Seminar) beforehand, but students graduating in Fall 2008 may take Bus 169B first if they have completed Bus 160 or Bus 161A.
Reading materials are posted to WebCT.
Bus 169B allows students to apply the concepts of their management education (particularly the advanced concepts covered by Bus 169A) in the complexity of a real-world organizational context. Students will work with a client organization to define a project with concrete objectives and schedule, and then will be responsible for meeting those committments. Students will be expected to demonstrate strong oral and written interpersonal communication skills,b oth in working with the client and with other members of their project team. Students will also develop and practice key management skills, including analysis, leadership, teamwork and accountability.
Academic dishonesty defrauds all those who depend upon the integrity of the University, its courses, and its degrees. Such dishonesty includes both cheating and plagiarism. Any suspected case of academic dishonesty will be vigorously pursued, with possible consequences including a failing grade for the specific assignment that you cheated on, failure in the course, and further disciplinary action.
This is a project-based course, in which the primary focus is on defining, planning, implementing and reporting on a specific, well-defined project for an assigned client organization. Students will be expected to present intermediate and final deliverables from their project, as well as to participate in regular class discussion.
You are responsible for the most up to date deadlines contained in the official course scheduled posted to WebCT.

“Your own commitment to learning, as evidenced by your enrollment at San José State University and the University’s Academic Integrity Policy requires you to be honest in all your academic course work. Faculty are required to report all infractions to the Office of Judicial Affairs.” The policy on academic integrity can be found at http://www.sjsu.edu/senate/F06-1.htm
Necessary course accommodations will be made for students who notify the instructor of their requirements at the beginning of the semester. University policy (under Presidential Directive 97-03) requires all students with disabilities register their disability with the SJSU Disability Resource Center.
Because you are honors students, you are assumed to already have mastered all relevant college policies. These can be reviewed at http://www.cob.sjsu.edu/cob/5_STUDENT%20SERVICES/cobpolicy.htm
